Dr Panethymitaki received her Ph.D from Biochemistry Department at Imperial College London, UK. Her work involved the identification and characterization of drug targets for Leishmania and Trypanosome parasites. She went on to do Postdoctoral Research at the Institute of Cancer Research, UK. Since then, she has been involved in translational research by initiating collaborations between scientists and medical doctors/surgeons with the ultimate goal to bring new developments to the hospitals for the benefit of the patient. She returned to Greece, as Director of Research & Development at the pharmaceutical company GAP S.A., from 2013 to 2021. She has five peer-reviewed publications and holds a patent for drug formulation.
